We had the honor today of being part of SOLEDHA's weekly bible study for the kids. I wish everyone could see the passion that Mirto has while she is teaching. Today she taught about Jesus being a shepard and the parable of the "lost sheep", I took some video and I will upload after we get back from out trip. We also got to see how your flip flop donations were used, almost everyone had them on. Thank you all again!!! As I was looking around at the kids playing today, I thought about the last time I saw them playing and that they had nothing on their feet, now all of them had something on their feet. This was such a small thing, but it meant so much to the kids, they were so appreciative and happy.

Tomorrow we leave for Haiti!!!!! Follow this blog and our Facebook page to get updates on what we are up to while over there. This trip we will be taking pictures and writing bio's for the kids who are part of SOLEDHA, so we can start a sponsorship program. This is so exciting!!!!! The goal is to have each child sponsored so they can go to school each year and also have food to eat. Thank you all that donated flip flops to the kids, we are bringing them down this trip and we will post pictures and video of the kids. They will be so happy! Below is a video Mirto took of the kids playing at the last group they had, as you can see they are in desperate need of them. On April 20th Kris, Chanee, and I will be traveling to Haiti. (you can read more the team in the "About Us" section) The goal of the trip is to set the stage for a child sponsorship program. As you may or may not know we have partnered with SOLEDHA to help them send at lest 30 kids from the village to school. Also, to have a weekly bible study and a weekly food program. This is a daunting task, but one that is 100% possible. In fact SOLEDHA is only limited by money and with our help we hope to grow the program beyond these initial 30 kids. They have more and more families each day ask for the children to be part of their program, and they would love to say YES to everyone! The other goal is to set the stage for the mission trip in June! We ask for your prayers as we travel to Haiti and for His guidance, strength and wisdom in everything we do.
Below are some recent photos of their bible study. As you can see they meet outside, actually it's technically inside the unfinished home of the Duroc's (founders of SOLEDHA). One of the projects for the June trip is to cover at least one room for them to meet in. As always please consider donating to our mission! Thank you. Eric Thank all who gave and continue to give, because of you 8 more kids are able to go to school!!!! Please keep giving, so we can continue to send these kids to school and give them the chance they didn't have before. Dates are June 3rd - 10th, 2016! This will be a life changing experience for both you and the people of Haiti. If we are to follow God's command to "Go" and believe He is sovereign over all, we ALL must consider going on or supporting missions. This trip will be 100% focused on the children of Soledha (the organization we support) and include a visit to Mother Teresa's Hospital for Children and Infants that will change your perspective forever. Click on the Mission Trips link above to find out more and register.
I am personally thanking everyone who gave, YOU have helped start the change in these kid's lives!!! These 4 girls are now able to go to school for the remainder of the year, but we still have 26 more kids to go, and then we will work on the next year. It seems like a never ending struggle, and that is exactly what it is. The only way they will ever "make it" is with your help! If you have not given, please consider to do so. If you did give, please consider a monthly donation to help them go to school and feed their family ongoing. Here are the pictures of Diana, Mikelda, Sandra and Danika. Thank you! Eric |
